Vectracom and the National Archives of Singapore
Vectracom recently collaborated with the National Archives of Singapore to digitise video tapes. This project, carried out using specialised equipment, aims to preserve these documents for future generations.
A rigorous digitisation process
The project began with meticulous cleaning of the tapes using a Recortec machine, to ensure optimum quality for digitisation. This essential step removes any impurities that could alter the final result.
Specialist equipment for optimum quality
Vectracom used RCA TR70 and Ampex AVR2 models for digitisation, accompanied by a TBC (Snell & Wilcox) to adjust the video and audio parameters. These tools produce digital files that meet today’s quality standards.
Quality control and secure delivery
The final files were checked using the Baton system and internal quality control software. Once validated, they were delivered on LTO9 media, ensuring their long-term preservation.
This collaboration underlines Vectracom’s commitment to preserving the world’s audiovisual heritage. Thanks to precise processes and appropriate technologies, these archives are now secure and accessible.
