RTS takes the conservation of its precious heritage very seriously. For this reason, turning to Vectracom was their best idea for maintaining and digitizing their audio archives, the latest of which is 80,000 hours recorded on classic open reels.
Over a period of 4 years, which can be modified according to operations and budget, Vectracom first recovered the tapes from RTS in Lausanne every quarter. After recovery, the tapes have to be cleaned before being digitised, and some, suffering from vinegar syndrome or damp, will require special treatment.
For this project, Vectracom has included a new feature: the RTS representatives will have access to the measurements taken regularly on the bands. This is an additional guarantee of the quality of the company’s digitization channels. Finally, when the tapes are digitized in the knowledge that they may be used for the last time, their boxes and sheets of paper are also digitized.
